For two days and nights I was hiding in a blind shooting this spectacular event. There is only one week in the year where mating occur, so you need some luck to get footage like this! Ambient sound recorded with a pair of shotgun mics.

Incredible! The best film I remember of capercaille. I love this bird (is my favorite in Europe). In my land (Asturias, NW Spain) we have a subspecies (ssp cantabricus) but is critically endangered. I have enjoyed your video, but at the same time, I was sad thinking that this beautiful spectacle will disappear in our forests of beech, oaks and birches. Thank you for your video, Per: Awesome!
