Following five hours of silent searching we finally found this individual after 0100 hours. It was first heard in the undergrowth, then after anticipating it was on the track we shone the red spotlight, it was in the middle of the track around 15 metres away. Subsequently it was seen briefly (here) in the undergrowth, but even using the red spotlight it was extremely nervous. It then came out on the track about three metres from us. After that we left it in peace. Occasionally kiwis will freeze in these circumstances, as happened the previous night with 'Okarito' Brown Kiwi (amazing views, but no cameras allowed!). It completed an amazing three consecutive nights with three different kiwis, 'Stewart Island' Brown Kiwi was seen on the first night of the three!
