Either subspecies guianae or nigriceps. Subspecies guianae is said to occur in eastern Venezuela and adjacent Guyana. Subspecies nigriceps is said to occur in the Aracai Mountains in southern Guyana and adjacent southern Suriname. This species is however, common in Brownsberg, which lies in the north of Suriname.
