Soon-Chye Ng has been interested in wildlife for over 45 years, since his days in school, and in 1996 he took up videography of birds. As a resident of Singapore, he concentrates on wildlife in South East Asia, particularly Singapore and Malaysia, mainly using a Canon XL1S with interchangeable Canon photographic lenses, mounted on a Sachtler DV-4 tripod.
For a living, he practices gynaecology, specifically reproductive medicine. He was a Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) until 2004, when he left for private practice, although he still continues research as an Adjunct Professor at the NUS and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore.
