Roberto Cavalieros
New York, USA
Roberto Cavalieros became interested in birdwatching in 2002, when a pair of house finches nested right outside his window. Sighting a scarlet tanager soon after that, he got seriously hooked. He only recently began experimenting with 'videodigiscoping', using a Sony DSC-W1 photographic camera in video mode with his 85mm scope and a home-made adapter. A native of Venezuela, he lived there for 18 years (oblivious to the rich avifauna!), when his family relocated to the USA.He is an ophthalmic surgeon teaching and practicing in New York. His wife, Tamara, tolerates his obsession and is an excellent spotter who finds the elusive species wherever they go.
