Rigdon was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1930, was educated in the American South and completed his education at Harvard Business School in 1956 (and plans to attend his 50th reunion this spring). He spent his career in the burgeoning computer industry, including 17 years with Xerox Corporation and 15 years in high technology venture capital investing. He still serves on 5 boards.He has been a photographer in some form for many years and took up video photography in 2000 during a trip to Cuba. He got into video because he starting listing to birds and travelling all over North America and the world. He found video the ideal way to keep a lively record of his trips.
Rigdon’s goal now is to see a representative of every bird family in the world. Thus, he is headed to Nepal, India, South Africa and Sierra Leone this year.
This goal takes him to great places, beautiful and fascinating birds and interesting people. He is currently at 175 families.
This interest led to his subscription to the Handbook of the Birds of the World series which he has thoroughly enjoyed.
