Richard has been a keen birder for over 20 years now. From early local patch watching in his native north-east of England his interest grew along with a passion for art. After graduating with a Visual Communication degree in 1997 he combined the two, working on illustrations for various bird related projects which now include the forthcoming field guides Bird of Argentina and Birds of Bolivia. He has travelled extensively, visiting Europe, North Africa, India, Nepal, China, North America and South America, unfortunately mostly before he acquired his digital camcorder in mid-2003. So he now looks forward to getting away sometime in the not too distant future to film some more exotic species. For filming he currently uses a Sony DCR-PC5e connected to a Kowa TSN-823M, using an EagleEye adapter and digiscoping eyepiece.
