Philip Griffin was born in England and grew up in Western Australia. He currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand.

He has travelled to countries in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, The Pacific, South East Asia and North America frequently combining nature observation and photography with his professional activities as a musician.
