Peter Fraser

Cornwall, UK

Peter Fraser was born in Bristol, UK, in 1957 and took up birding ten years later. He moved to Cornwall in 1998 and realised that a camcorder was a useful addition to the birder's tool kit when birding for rarities. As for world birding, video does the one thing a still camera can't, capture a bird flying. Consequently he prefers video-ing seabirds above all else. He is a statistician for the British Birds Rarities Committee ( www.bbrc.org.uk ), co-author of two books: Rare Birds in Britain and Ireland (T. & A.D. Poyser, 1989) and Rare Birds Day by Day (T. & A.D. Poyser, 1996) and author of bird-recording software. He uses a Sony Digital8 Handycam with 25x optical magnification and Pinnacle Studio editing software.
