Marc de Bont
The Netherlands
Marc started birding at a young age and became a member of a local birding group in the Netherlands at the age of 13, of which he is still a member today. He has travelled quite a bit, mainly in Africa. During 1993 and 1994 he travelled together with his partner Herma by bicycle through nine countries in West Africa. In 1994 they did three more months in Madagascar on the same bicycles.
Marc worked for two years in Nigeria from 1998-2000, for over two years in Brazil, 2000-2002, and recently two years in Sudan, 2004-2005. Has worked in Tanzania from January 2007 until May 2008 and is currently back in The Netherlands.
In the tropics he works as a nurse, mainly in primary health care and up until now only in very remote areas. Fortunately, he has been able to do all this work and travelling with Herma.
