I've been birding since I was 11 years old and cut my birding teeth around the reservoirs, gravel pits and heaths of London and Surrey in the UK, as well as further afield in the UK and Europe. Over the years I have travelled extensively around the world in search of birds and other wildlife and have found myself getting more and more involved with wildlife conservation. In 2006 I quit my full-time job and spent eight months travelling in South America where I began working as a volunteer for a Brazilian NGO called REGUA (Reserva Ecologica de Guapi Assu). Here I was able to get involved in neotropical bird conservation as well as the development of REGUA's sustainable tourism project. Now back home in the UK, I still remain heavily involved.
