From his days hiding behind the couch as a seven-year-old trying to watch movies well past his bedtime, Ken Robinson has dreamed, breathed and schemed movies. He experimented with a couple of short films in his spare time while at university studying for a physiotherapy degree to get a real job.
His first one won a couple of nominations in the student film competition for best flick and best camera.
Once Ken realized he was spending more time imagining movie scripts than health prescriptions, he quit his day job and set up his own video production company, Boomtown Studios, in Canterbury, New Zealand.
While commercial videography is his bread and butter, Ken’s passion is documentaries and feature films. His idea for the Orange Fronted Parakeet- The Fight for Survival documentary was sparked by a news item predicting the species to be the first extinction in New Zealand in 50 years. The full documentary can be viewed free in low resolution format from his website:

Ken’s favourite camera at present is the versatile Sony Z1P. Most of his work is done in Final Cut Pro and needless to say he is a Mac addict. Ken is currently working on a new documentary which when finished will preview on his website, so stay tuned!
