Joe lives in Cheltenham, UK, and retired in 2005 after a career teaching (biological, earth and environmental sciences) in higher education. He started taking camcorder pictures of all kinds of animals and plants, not just birds, as an aid to identification. He prefers taking video images rather than still ones as they record movement, sounds and behaviour.Apart from spending as much time as he can afford filming and editing videotapes for personal interest, Joe edits the Proceedings of the Cotteswold Naturalists' Field Club, which covers all field-based subjects.
