Jan was born on the 19th of December in 1944 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He started with bird keeping when he was 7 years old, with a Tigerfinch - Amandava amandava - that somebody gave him as a present. That was the beginning of a lifetime hobby and interest in the behaviour of birds. Besides observations and taking photographs of birds in free nature, he keep birds in captivity as well and tries to have them brood in his aviaries.IBC Personal statistics:
