Ian was born in Dumbarton, Scotland and spent much of his youth and later years engaged in rock climbing and mountaineering. Declining enthusiasm and ability forced the need for a change to a less strenuous pastime which could continue his love for the outdoors and far away places. A friend introduced him to the delights of birding somewhile ago and this quickly led to trips abroad. Most of his birding in centred around the localities of central Scotland but he has developed a great love of Africa and African birding and he has been making regular trips to there for several years. Most of his photography is done with a Canon DLSR and a Kyocera Contax U4R for digiscoping stills and videos.IBC Personal statistics:
