I am a Mexican environmental architect and international ecotourism consultant,with professional experience in 77 countries around the world. I coined the term "ecotourism" and its preliminary definition in 1983 (modified version adopted by IUCN in 1996). I am also an ardent birder. I hold what seems to be a world birding record: over 4,200 life birds seen in 42 consecutive years: 1969-2011 (longest streak averaging over 100 birds per year).
