Calgary, Canada
I was born and raised north of North Battleford, in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Walking three miles, one way, to school each day, gave me lots of time to observe and ponder the natural world around me. As a result, I have been a life-long naturalist, which has resulted in great joy to me and my fellow travellers. In 1972, I started Nature Travel Service, leading nature tours across Canada and around the world. I sold the company in 1991 but continued to lead some tours until 2003.
Since 1993 I have been living in Calgary, Alberta, attempting to get to know the flora and fauna, past and present, of this part of Canada. I am active on a number of conservation issues, and am currently working on a publication on the flowering plants of the Calgary area.
In 2000 I travelled to Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falklands. The videos from this trip were taken with a a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV120 with an optical zoom of 25x.
I acknowledge the assistance of Brooke Clibbon and Eric Tull in editing these videos for the Internet Bird Collection.
