I take photographs of, and enjoy observing different birds. New Zealand has no native mammals, and most of our endemic species are avian. Many nested on the ground, not having to evolve to counter the effect of stoats, cats, possums and other mammalian pests since introduced by man. As a result of this unique situation is that many species are now under threat of extinction, or at least endangered.
