Frank Witebsky

USA

Frank is a pathologist-microbiologist who has been enthralled by birds since 1949. As he had done very well in fifth grade, his father took him to a large bookstore in Buffalo, New York, and told him he could have any book he wanted. Looking through a superbly illustrated copy of the Birds of America, he knew he had found what he wanted, and was hooked for the rest of his life on birds and bird books. He became interested in videographing birds a few years ago, initially using a small Canon camcorder. More recently he has obtained a Canon GL2. His special interests include the hummingbirds, piciforms, and suboscines of the Neotropics. His wife Phyllis has been remarkably tolerant not only of his long absences on bird trips, but also of his houseful of ornithological works.
