Eldert is 50 years old and he started birding with his father when he was 6 years old. At that age, his father had to solve a disagreement between Eldert and his teacher about a Duck (according to the teacher) and a Great-crested Greebe (according to young Eldert); Eldert was right. Peacefully he could go to school again... Near his hometown he counted breeding birds during the breeding season for 12 years. He was very fanatic to see birds in Holland and he wanted to see as many species as possible, but now his lifelist is more important. Since about 15 years ago he has been making birdtrips all over the world. During these trips he likes to make videoshots of the birds he sees. Eldert also likes to show other people the birds in Holland, and he has done some guiding for Belgian, British, Austrian (two times a group of 16 for 5 days), Spanish and American birders in Holland.
