Curt Kessler

New York, USA

Curt was born in 1961 and grew up on the Great South Bay of Long Island, New York, USA. The marshes and seashore of that area initiated an interest in wildlife and birds (birds in particular). He found bird watching to be a pastime that brought satisfaction under any circumstances or situation. This includes his 4 year stretch in the U.S. Navy where a temporary break from the stressful routine of shipboard life and duty were much in need. After Military service, this hobby developed into a vocation refined through Biology courses at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, USA. Since receiving his Biology degree in 1988, Curt has worked as professional wildlife biologist on many projects in many diverse areas including the Navajo Reservation of Arizona, the Bering Sea, Channel Islands of California, coastal Florida, British Virgin Islands, and for the last 10 years the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, USA where his current project is habitat restoration for the endangered Micronesian Megapode on Anatahan Island.
Currently he is employed with US Fish & Wildlife Service in Honolulu, Hawaii working on feral ungulate/endangered species/hunter issues in the Pacific.
Curt is a novice videographer and has found a renewed interest in bird watching through this medium. He has found that the frustrations, complexities, and joys of creating interesting and quality footage of birds is just as challenging as hunting and probably more so.
