Bob Thompson was born in Sydney Australia and has been living since 1974 in Hong Kong. He is a cinematographer by profession and since the advent of broadcast video the majority of his work has been on video. Many of his videos have won international acclaim.In 2000 he sponsored a video titled "Black-faced Spoonbill in Hong Kong" which is on sale in DVD format.
His hobby is bird photography/digiscoping using a Swarovski 80HD scope and Nikon 8400 camera. More recently he is using a Canon 7D with Canon 400mm f5.6 lens for flight shots
