Bill was born in Williamson, West Virginia, and educated in Kentucky. He moved in 1977 to New Orleans, Louisiana, to practice Endodontics, a dental speciality that includes root canal therapy.
He began birding in 1992 and he did his first bird videos on a trip to Kenya in 1997. He has been doing videos of birds ever since.
His preference is birds of bright colours. He presently uses a Canon XL-1 camera with an adaptor so that he can use a Canon 100-400 mm zoom, and he edits videos using Adobe Premiere 6.5.
