Taxonomy: Corvus paradoxus Daudin, 1800, Nouvelle Zélande; error = south-east Tasmania, Australia.
May form a superspecies with A. carunculata. Two subspecies recognized.

- kingi (Mathews, 1925) - King I, in Bass Strait.
- paradoxa (Daudin, 1800) - C & E Tasmania.
