Spanish: Carpintero Ventriamarillo
Taxonomy: Chloronerpes dignus P. L. Sclater and Salvin, 1877, Antioquia, Colombia.
Races rather weakly differentiated. Venezuelan birds described as race abdominalis, but considered inseparable from nominate. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- dignus (P. L. Sclater & Salvin, 1877) - extreme SW Venezuela S in Andes to W slope in N Ecuador.
- baezae Chapman, 1923 - E slope of Andes in Ecuador.
- valdizani (Berlepsch & Stolzmann, 1894) - E slope of Andes in Peru.
