Taxonomy: Zosterops metcalfii Tristram, 1894, Santa Isabel, Solomon Islands.
Affinities unclear. Geographic variation is not very pronounced and mainly exists in presence or absence of eye-ring. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- exiguus Murphy, 1929 - Buka, Bougainville, Shortland Is and Choiseul, in N Solomon Is.
- metcalfii Tristram, 1894 - Santa Isabel and San Jorge, in NC Solomons.
- floridanus Rothschild & E. J. O. Hartert, 1901 - Florida Is, in EC Solomons.
