Taxonomy: Bucco henricii Temminck, 1831, Sumatra.
Closely related to M. armillaris and M. pulcherrima, with which has sometimes been considered conspecific or to form a superspecies; all three likely also to be related to group including M. oorti, M. asiatica and M. incognita. Races rather poorly differentiated. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- henricii (Temminck, 1831) - S peninsular Thailand S to Sumatra.
- brachyrhyncha (Neumann, 1908) - Borneo.
