Taxonomy: Aulacorhynchus huallagae Carriker, 1933, Utcubamba, La Libertad, Peru.
Forms a superspecies with A. haematopygus and A. coeruleicinctis, and perhaps closer to latter. Monotypic.

Distribution: Locally in Peru (San Martín and La Libertad).
