Taxonomy: Rallina Woodfordi Ogilvie-Grant, 1889, Aola, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands.
Sometimes placed in Rallina or even Rallus, but Nesoclopeus differs in structural characters, and may provide link between Rallina and Gallirallus. Forms superspecies with N. poecilopterus, with which may be conspecific. Three subspecies recognized.
