Hummingbirds (Trochilidae)
White-tufted Sunbeam (Aglaeactis castelnaudii) - HBW 5, p. 621
French: Colibri de Castelneau
German: Rotbrust-Andenkolibri
Spanish: Colibrí Condecorado
Taxonomy: Trochilus Castelnaudii Bourcier and Mulsant, 1848, mountains near Cuzco, Peru.
Forms a superspecies with A. cupripennis and possibly with A. aliciae. May be sister-species of A. pamela. Although the morphological variation in the genus might suggest past geneflow between A. cupripennis and present species, they are nowadays reproductively isolated in the zone of overlap. Two subspecies recognized.
