Taxonomy: Pteroptochos albicollis Kittlitz, 1830, Valparaiso, Chile.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- atacamae Hellmayr, 1924 - N Chile in SW Antofagasta (Quebrada Paposa), and from Atacama S to N Coquimbo.
- albicollis (Kittlitz, 1830) - C Chile from Coquimbo S to Curicó.
