Taxonomy: [Motacilla] madagascariensis J. F. Gmelin, 1789, east Madagascar.
Previously treated as a babbler (Timaliidae); now appears to be part of an independent Malagasy radiation descended from ancestral warblers. Monotypic.
Distribution: N, NW & E Madagascar (Montagne d’Ambre, and Tsaratanana and Sambirano, S to Andohahela).
