Taxonomy: Calliope pectoralis Gould, 1837, Western Himalayas.
Sometimes placed in genus Erithacus. Vocalizations very similar to those of L. calliope; race tschebaiewi appears intermediate between nominate race and that species, suggesting that a single species may be involved. Geographical variation somewhat clinal. Four subspecies recognized.
