Taxonomy: Geronticus Davisoni Hume, 1875, Pakchan estuary, Tenasserim.
Often considered race of P. papillosa, with which forms superspecies. Monotypic.

Distribution: Once widespread from Burma to SW China and S to Indochina and Borneo, range now much reduced; apparently restricted to S Viet Nam and Borneo, though also suspected to occur in Kampuchea.
