Other common names: Arnott’s Chat/Black-chat
Taxonomy: Saxicola arnotti Tristram, 1869, Victoria Falls, north-western Zimbabwe.
Sometimes placed in genus Thamnolaea or Myrmecocichla. Race harterti distinctive; if vocally different, may merit species status. Proposed race leucolaema (Rwanda and Burundi) merged with nominate. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- harterti ( Neunzig, 1926) - Angola.
- arnotti ( Tristram, 1869) - Rwanda and Burundi S to Zambia, C Mozambique and NE South Africa.
