German: Weißkinn Sturmvogel
Spanish: Pardela Gorgiblanca
Other common names: Spectacled Petrel, Shoemaker
Taxonomy: Procellaria aequinoctialis Linnaeus, 1758, Cape of Good Hope.
Has been considered to include P. parkinsoni and P. westlandica. Four additional races have been proposed, but invalidated due to extensive individual variation. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- aequinoctialis Linnaeus, 1758 - Falkland Is and South Georgia E through S Indian Ocean to Campbell and Antipodes Is.
- conspicillata Gould, 1844 - Inaccessible I (Tristan da Cunha).
