Spanish: Tangara Coroniblanca
Taxonomy: Tanagra (Lamprotes) albo-cristatus Lafresnaye, 1843, Colombia.
Despite numerous earlier suggestions to the contrary, morphological and genetic data support placement of this species within present family. Molecular-genetic data indicate that present genus and Nemosia are probably sister-taxa. Monotypic.
Distribution: SW Venezuela (Andes of S Táchira); and Colombia locally in E Andes (Norte de Santander), locally on both slopes of C Andes (Caldas–Tolima border), W Andes in Antioquia (La Linda, near city of Jardín) and head of Magdalena Valley in Huila S through Cauca and Nariño to Ecuador and C Peru (Junín).
