Taxonomy: Ereunetes Mauri Cabanis, 1857, South Carolina.
Formerly placed in genus Ereunetes with C. pusilla. Monotypic.
Distribution: E Chukotskiy Peninsula and W & N Alaska. Winters on Pacific coast from N California to N Peru, and locally down Atlantic coast from S New Jersey through Gulf of Mexico and West Indies to Surinam.
