Taxonomy: Cygnus buccinator Richardson, 1832, Hudson Bay.
Sometimes considered a subspecies of C. cygnus, with which it forms a superspecies. Sometimes placed in genus Olor with C. cygnus and C. columbianus. Monotypic.
Distribution: Breeds in Alaska and W Canada, wintering along coastal S Alaska, British Columbia and N USA; also several resident populations in several states of NW USA, mostly from reintroductions.
