Taxonomy: L[eptopogon] cinereus Tschudi, 1844, Tarma, Junín, Peru.
Possibly closest to S. nigricans. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- grisea Lawrence, 1871 - Costa Rica and W Panama.
- cinerea (Tschudi, 1844) - Andean slopes and foothills from Colombia (including Santa Marta Mts and Perijá Mts) and Venezuela (Mérida) S to Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba).
