Taxonomy: Odontorhynchus cinereus Pelzeln, 1868, Salto do Girão, upper River Madeira, Brazil.
Sometimes regarded as conspecific with O. branickii, but the two differ significantly in song and habitat. Monotypic.
Distribution: C Brazil (from just S of Amazon, in E Amazonas and Pará, S to E Rondônia and C Mato Grosso) and E Bolivia (NE Santa Cruz).
