Taxonomy: Orthnocichla subulata Sharpe, 1884, Timor.
Originally considered to include Tesia everetti as a race. Birds on Wetar may represent an undescribed race; further study required. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- subulata (Sharpe, 1884) - islands of Wetar, Atauro, Timor and Roti, in E Lesser Sundas.
- advena (E. J. O. Hartert, 1906) - Babar I (E of Timor).
