Taxonomy: Muscicapa hyacinthina Temminck, 1820, no locality = Timor.
Placement in genus Niltava has been considered more appropriate for this species. Forms a superspecies with C. hoevelli and C. sanfordi. Population on Roti (off SW Timor) may belong to an as yet undescribed race. Two subspecies recognized.

- hyacinthinus (Temminck, 1820) - Timor, Roti and Semau, in E Lesser Sundas.
