Taxonomy: Geositta crassirostris P. L. Sclater, 1866, Lima, Peru.
Relationships to other members of genus uncertain, but present species differs vocally. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- crassirostris P. L. Sclater, 1866 - coastal hills of W Peru (Lima).
- fortis Berlepsch & Stolzmann, 1901 - Andes of SW Peru (Lima S to Arequipa).
