Taxonomy: Cuculus Audeberti Schlegel, 1879, Ambodikilo, Antongil Bay, Madagascar.
Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- brazzae (Oustalet, 1886) - Sierra Leone patchily through Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon to Congo and W Zaire.
- validus (Reichenow, 1879) - E Zaire to SE Kenya and Tanzania, and S through Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique to E Transvaal.
- audeberti (Schlegel, 1879) - Madagascar.
