Taxonomy: Chlorura hyperythra Reichenbach, 1863, New Guinea; error = Java.
Sometimes separated in a monotypic genus, Reichenowia. Proposed race malayana (described from Cameron Highlands, in Peninsular Malaysia) is synonymized with borneensis, ernstmayri (from Wawa Karaeng, Lompobattang, in SW Sulawesi) with microrhyncha, and obscura (from Sita, in W Flores) with intermedia. Five subspecies recognized.
