Taxonomy: Myiobius villosus P. L. Sclater, 1860, Nanegal, Pichincha, Ecuador.
Four subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- villosus P. L. Sclater, 1860 - locally in E Panama (Cerro Taracuna), W Colombia and NW Ecuador.
- schaeferi Aveledo & Pons, 1952 - locally in NE Colombia and W Venezuela.
- clarus J. T. Zimmer, 1939 - E Ecuador and E Peru.
- peruvianus Todd, 1922 - SE Peru and NW Bolivia.
