Taxonomy: Timalia hyperythra Franklin, 1831, Ganges between Calcutta and Benares (Varanasi), India.
Proposed race abuensis (from W India) considered inseparable from albogularis. Three subspecies recognized.

Distribution: C Laos and C Vietnam (C Annam).

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • hyperythra (Franklin, 1831) - N, C & E India and S Nepal.
  • albogularis (Blyth, 1847) - W & S India.
  • phillipsi Whistler, 1941 - Sri Lanka.
