Taxonomy: Microeca hemixantha P. L. Sclater, 1883, Tanimbar Island.
Possibly closest to M. flavigaster, and regarded by many as a brighter island representative of that species. Monotypic.
Distribution: Tanimbar Is (Larat, Yamdena).
