Taxonomy: Cinclodes taczanowskii Berlepsch and Stolzmann, 1892, Chorillos, near Lima, Peru.
Forms a superspecies with C. nigrofumosus and may be conspecific; no indication that difference between the two is any greater than that found among races of e.g. C. fuscus. Monotypic.
Distribution: Coast of C & S Peru (Ancash S to Tacna).
